Writers Can Read is Back!

After a three-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Writers Can Read is back, and at a new venue. It will be held this Monday, June 15, at Huntington’s Heritage Station, 210 11th Street. Hope to see you there.

WSAZ-TV ran an interview with Eliot Parker, one of Monday’s readers, today on their Studio 3 show. Amusingly enough, during the interview they ran video recorded last August of the event where I was reading from “HPD”. So, I got some free promotion from the program, too!

Writers Can Read Cancelled

As “social distancing” becomes more the norm in our society, the participants and organizers of Huntington’s Writers Can Read have canceled all upcoming events until further notice. Therefore, tomorrow’s March 16th scheduled event will NOT take place. This also means that my scheduled appearance tomorrow on WSAZ’s Studio 3 program promoting Writers Can Read is also cancelled.

TV Interview Preempted

I got to wave on TV today, in connection with a scheduled interview about our local Writers Can Read events. However, right as our interview was to begin and before I even said one word, the Governor preempted the show with a news conference. Luckily, WSAZ taped an interview of Carter Taylor Seaton and me for broadcast on Monday. So, all is not lost!

Appearing at another Author Dinner

Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church in Huntington, WV is blessed with many authors in our congregation. Continuing our March “Dinner with an Author” series this Wednesday, we’ll be hearing Rexanna Shumaker discuss her memoir, “Daughter of Life’s Longing: An Appalachian Journey”.

Since I sold out of my books during last Wednesday’s dinner, I will have a table set up there with more books. This time I’ll have an entire case of books with me!

Hope to see you there for good food and good conversation!
