This weekend, in spite of record heat here in West Virginia, I attended a self-defense handgun training course titled Critical Spaces. The purpose of the course was to train us in working with a handgun within very confined spaces, whether as the result of a close contact physical attack, or working within the confines of a building. It was an amazing course in the amount of information and practical experience I gained from it. I performed such activities as engaging in hand-to-hand combat, practicing defenses against a gun grab, shooting targets at extremely close range, effective movement while shooting, and clearing a shoot house filled with reactive targets representing bad guys and even rescuing a child from it. Below are a few pictures of me taken during the course. Click on any of them to see a larger version.
